Control Carbon Emissions

Optimize route design and reduce vessel idle time to achieve energy savings and emission reductions.

Hydrodynamic energy-saving upgrade solution: Installation of a pre-swirl guide vane (PSV) in front of the propeller (PSV has fixed blades that create a pre-swirl in the flow field in front of the propeller, increasing propulsion efficiency and reducing energy loss from stern flow). + HVAF anti-vortex fins, while trimming the propeller blades, reducing propeller load and improving engine-propeller matching. Improved main engine conditions lead to a decrease in power of about 7%~8% at the same RPM, reducing main engine fuel consumption and effectively reducing ship CII. It is expected that installing the pre-swirl guide vane will increase propulsion efficiency by about 2%. When sailing at 14kn, adding the pre-swirl guide vane and anti-vortex fin combination energy-saving device below the load, design, and structure of the 57000 fleet's sister ship can save main engine power by 13.4%, 13.6%, and 12.5%, respectively, compared to a non-energy-saving device.

Currently, the majority of ocean-going vessels require the use of auxiliary boilers to provide heat sources (steam or hot oil) while docked, to meet the needs of heating the engine with heavy oil, insulation of day cabinets, insulation for the main engine cylinder liner, and heating the crew's air conditioning in winter. However, the operation of auxiliary boilers consumes a large amount of fuel, increases operational costs, and also adds maintenance costs to the boiler. By installing electric heaters, the company's fleet replaces the auxiliary boiler with a heat source when the ship is docked, greatly reducing the above operational costs. This effectively plays a role in energy conservation and emission reduction. The estimated daily fuel savings during a stoppage is around 0.5 to 1.0 tons per day (depending on temperature changes in the area of stoppage).

The company's fleet of ships has opted for the AKZONOBEL brand organic silicone paint Intersleek 1100SR for dock maintenance. The excellent underwater performance of this organic silicone, non-fouling system allows for optimal fuel savings (10-20% during voyages). This ensures that the ships have the best efficiency throughout their entire lifecycle by using organic silicone paint from the very beginning.
